  • a self-supporting online resource to enhance understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of online research methods including online questionnaires, and virtual synchronous and asynchronous interviews;
  • access to a wide range of good practice case studies and important resource links;
  • discussion of the ethical issues of online research and comprehensive technical guidance.

• ESRC Research Resources

  The UK Medical Research Council is a government-funded national organisation promoting research into all areas of medical and related science with the aims of improving the health and quality of life of the UK public and contributing to the wealth of the nation.

• National Centre for Social Research (NatCen)

  NatCen is the largest independent social research institute in Britain. They design, carry out and analyse research studies in the fields of social and public policy, including extensive research among members of the public. NatCen has conducted high quality and innovative work that informs policy debates and the public for more than 30 years.

• North and Central London Research Consortium

  NoCLoR aims to promote and support high quality primary and community health care research in its sector by coordinating and disseminating research expertise, supporting the development of new research, facilitating competitiveness and access to funding and consolidating links to education and lifelong learning. NoCLoR is a partnership between Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey PCTs, Camden & Islington Mental Health & Social Care Trust, and Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. NoCLoR also encompasses the former North Central Thames Primary Care Research Network.

• Social Research Association

  Advancing the conduct, development and application of social research since 1978. The SRA plays a unique role as an organisation open to social research practitioners and trainees from all sectors, as well as others with an interest in social research.

• Social Science Research Council

  The SSRC brings necessary knowledge to public issues. Among its key interests are: knowledge institutions, global security and cooperation, international migration, and democracy and the public sphere. • UK Federation of Primary Care Research Organisations

  The UK Federation of Primary Care Research Organisations provides an opportunity for sharing ideas and improving communication and collaboration between the growing number of primary care research networks in the UK and across the world.

• UK Clinical Research Network

  The UK Clinical Research Network was developed to support clinical research and to facilitate the conduct of randomised prospective trials of interventions and other well-designed studies. It is initially supporting the development of six Topic Specific Research Networks in the fields of cancer, dementias and neurodegenerative disease, diabetes, medicines for children, mental health and stroke and, over time, will hopefully enable research to be conducted across the full spectrum of disease and clinical need.

• Forum: Qualitative Social Research

  Forum: Qualitative Social Research is a peer-reviewed multilingual online journal for qualitative research. Established in 1999, it is being re-organized to include broader information and communication resources for qualitative researchers.
